Dali Lama Visit

to coincide with the Dali Lama visit, I am offering custom Om Mani Padme Hum tees at Ozebaby. You will need to get in quick to get one before the visit. I might still offer them after the visit, the Dali Lama will no doubt have a stimulating effect on people.
I need to make one for myself too.
I suggest fleece jumpers or bonds tee. Contact me via Ozebaby to discuss garment choices, colours and sizes.
Here is the result (this is an old version on a singlet, t-shirts and jumpers will give a better result).

butterfly garden

finished - 2nd custom for Feb/March, but quite overdue.
Hand dyed in scrunch method with two tones of pink, bubblegum and fuschia fibre reactive dyes, and then overdyed with pink. Gives the tee slight tone definition, rather than one flat colour. Hand painted with artist quality acrylics.

Giraffe

This is my 1st February custom finished. It is dip dyed in fibre reactive dyes, and hand painted with artist quality acrylic paints.
I really love the innocence and childlikeness captured in this painting, which is synonymous with my style. I like to call it 'naive lines'. Naive lines gives the impression of movement, and a certain awkwardness to the painting reminiscent of surrealism. There is also a pop art element in there with the bold colours, lines and shapes similar to illustration techniques.
I think my style doesn't quite fit in the definition of other art styles, therefore I am still trying to define it.

Feb custom 2 - butterfly garden

my much overdue 2nd custom for last month is still a work in progress.
Here is the butterfly, needs outline and antennas. Some flowers will be along the bottom of the shirt. Hand painted with artist quality acrylics and hand dyed with two tones of pink fibre reactive dyes.
The original mock design had the butterfly with a black background, but I felt it was too over powering and a bit punk, so went with gold. Gives it a fairy feel.

Feb custom 1 - giraffe

the first of my February customs is nearly finished. It is a giraffe, here is a work in progress pic. Still needs some detailed love, but I am really happy with the dip dyed colours. Have an idea of something extra to add, but may not yet, depends how the detail comes up.

cute turtle

I painted this singlet to match a gorgeous AIO that Trudy (Nappylicious) has made for her DS. Can't wait to see photos to see how they look together.

la-di-da-di-da upate

so close to finished. it has been annoying me as I just need to sit down and do a few more things (1 session) and it's done, but I haven't been able to for 4 days... argh!!! I might sneak off early from today's nappycino to get it done.

feisty update

when the customer asked for a frill neck I said that would be a challenge, and that he is proving to be. here is an update, haven't done much on him to date, but it is more than the outline

Feisty

this feisty little frill neck lizard is my 2nd January custom.
I do love painting Australian animals!

I'm glad to be able to paint today as I have wanted to for a week but haven't had time or space.

here is the original artist's impression

and here is the very start of the lizard, just the outline so far.
More pics to come.

"la-di-da-di-da"

one of my January customs - I call it "la-di-da-di-da".

The reason I say it takes 6 weeks as I only have two days a week without DS. There is no way I can paint with him here or awake and lately he is going to bed at 10pm so I am behind on painting.
My customs will be done in time, but the GDUNH will have less painted pieces.

It will be nice if they only took an hour to paint - but that isn't the case.
Oh well, painting is always a labor of love.

This is the mock design I sent the customer, more like an artistic interpretation of the general feel of the finished piece.

And here is the cute little frog coming to life.
