inspired styles

Part of my new line includes mandalas inspired by timeless ideas and rituals of spiritual societies. These pieces are almost like artistic impressions or representations of yantras (magic symbols), fire yagnas (sacrifices), sand mandalas made by Tibetan buddhists and tribal and pagan images of fire dancing, tribal gatherings, initiations and corroboree events.
These pieces are also aimed at the crystal children being born at this time in the world. You can read more about them here. Here are some of my favourites so far from this new line.
This one is called fire yagna. 2nd one is flower and reminiscent of sand mandala of monks.

This is Lotus and is similar to yantras for the cosmos.

This doesn't have a name yet, but is similar to the Tibetan wheel of fire.

more hunt stock

I am nearly finished dyeing for stock during the hunt. There are a few bags requiring an extra colour from dip dyed and then they all need stenciling, and I'll be finished! I'm loving dyeing the bigger pieces as they allow for detail that just can't be achieved on small children's tees.

GDUNH prize

This hunt we have donated 'fire and ice' a hand dyed library or shopping bag and a hand dyed 100% hemp wallet with zip up coin and notes section and sections for credit cards.
Something for mum/dad this year in the wallet and the bag is the funkiest library bag for the littlins or a great shopping bag for the family.

the painting of a superhero

coming to ozebaby this week, still a work in progress
starts with marking out a sketch of proportions in paint and details slowly emerge

our future... a new series

aimed at positive imagery and empowerment for young children
children are bombarded with such disempowering images in today's world, images of super skinny women, images of cutesy dolls, boys are projected to be little monsters and rock stars with attitude. With all this, one has to wonder about the future created from a generation over-sexualised, neglected youth.
I can't help but speak up on these issues, after all I am a indigo child and it is my duty to protect the crystal children, one of which is my son.
This new series will start this week on Ozebaby and will be stepped up around the time of the GDUNH. The first two tees are:
  • The Matroyoshka are Russian nesting dolls. The word matroyoshka is associated with the image of a mother of a peasant family who is healthy and has a 'portly' figure.
  • Superheros help young boys aspire to think outside of themselves and about the positive acts they can create in tomorrow's world.

labour of love

seems like this shirt has taken forever. I started it back during the GDUNH but I could see how much work it would be, and have left it until now. I want to auction it this weekend so I spent a few hours (yes, hours) adding feather detail today. Looks amazing though! Due to the amount of time it has taken, it will not be as affordable for all as my other stuff :(
Here are some work in progress pics of adding feather detail. Just needs a few finishing touches now, and the shirt will be ready for auction at Ozebaby.

peace

hand dyed and painted tee. I love the style of the painting, I was aiming for a crayon look, also pulling heavily on Warhol's stuff as he is one of my art inspirations. Truly a OOAK, and if it doesn't sell, it is my son's size :)!!!
This painting is inspired from my incidental art from a while back, photos of my hands when they came out dyed rainbows from my day of dyeing (look back in my blog).
Will be available on Ozebaby in the next few days.

terra - more than a pretty picture

and more than an inconvenient truth. Our planet, so large and majestic, yet so small and fragile. Inspired by Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth.
Hand dyed and painted - Coming very soon to Ozebaby

la-di-da-di-da upate

so close to finished. it has been annoying me as I just need to sit down and do a few more things (1 session) and it's done, but I haven't been able to for 4 days... argh!!! I might sneak off early from today's nappycino to get it done.

grace - where the flamingoes swim

this shirt will go up for auction early next week.
I really love who the flamingos are reflected in the water. It was the first thing I saw once the original tie-dye was finished, and as always, the name came to me first - where the flamingos swim. Since then Grace has also been added as a name.
I think this is one of my favourites so far.

pride update

hopefully this will be finished sometime during Feb and will be auctioned on Ozebaby. If I can finish it to look the way it looks in my head, i'm sure it will be my best piece yet!
it still needs a few more sessions and is currently a work in progress

feisty update

when the customer asked for a frill neck I said that would be a challenge, and that he is proving to be. here is an update, haven't done much on him to date, but it is more than the outline

Feisty

this feisty little frill neck lizard is my 2nd January custom.
I do love painting Australian animals!

I'm glad to be able to paint today as I have wanted to for a week but haven't had time or space.

here is the original artist's impression

and here is the very start of the lizard, just the outline so far.
More pics to come.

"la-di-da-di-da"

one of my January customs - I call it "la-di-da-di-da".

The reason I say it takes 6 weeks as I only have two days a week without DS. There is no way I can paint with him here or awake and lately he is going to bed at 10pm so I am behind on painting.
My customs will be done in time, but the GDUNH will have less painted pieces.

It will be nice if they only took an hour to paint - but that isn't the case.
Oh well, painting is always a labor of love.

This is the mock design I sent the customer, more like an artistic interpretation of the general feel of the finished piece.

And here is the cute little frog coming to life.
